City Seeks Tourism Director

Wednesday, March 22, marks the last day for Atlanta Tourism Director, Whitney Ortiz, who has resigned her position to accept full-time employment with a national organization. Ortiz has held the position since February of 2020, establishing the "Visit Atlanta, IL" Facebook page and other social media accounts. Whitney has been successful in establishing a tradition of "cruise-ins" and "market weekends" during her time as Tourism Director and teamed up with the Atlanta Public Library and Museum to help produce and promote "13 Days of Halloween" and the Christmas Parade. She has done so much behind the scenes to coordinate overnight camper stays and tour bus stops, while highlighting our local businesses. Atlanta Mayor and the Atlanta City Council appreciate the hard work and extra efforts that Whitney brought to the job. "We will miss her energy and enthusiasm for promoting Atlanta and all the City has to offer."

The City is seeking to fill the vacancy as soon as possible. Interested parties are encouraged to apply for the part-time position (see PDF link below) by April 3, 2023, by email: cstatlanta@gmail.com. The position will remain open until the job is filled.
